Summer has finally arrived, and it’s soooo hot!

[su_dropcap style=”simple” size=”5″]I[/su_dropcap] love the summer. Don’t you? I’ve been waiting for summer to arrive in London. Sunshine, no heavy coats and boots, but instead light summer clothes and sandals. So much to do and enjoy!

Still, Micro (#microthedog) has been struggling a bit with the heat. Dips in the brook, the Thames River, and even in the bathtub (we have a new ball game in the tub) have helped a bit, but to make it easier, we’ve just ordered a tiny paddling pool for him. Can’t wait to try it out, so that he doesn’t have to camp out in the shower as he did last summer in Spain:

To make the most of the summer, M and I have tried out a number of recipes from Peter Gordon’s Savour: Salads for all Seasons.

So far, the recipes have been absolutely brilliant! Even M eat’s them (and M usually doesn’t enjoy having too many leaves in her diet…) And we have introduced Spanish evening dinners (after 10pm on our little balcony), and enjoyed London sunsets when the temperatures slowly drop to under 27˚ C – these evenings go well with our current Spanish language course. Hopefully, we’ll be able to converse a little more during our upcoming annual visit to Spain.

How have you been enjoying the summer? Any good hints and tips for dealing with the heat? We’d love to hear from you!
