Holidays with dogs – addendum

Microthedog with his friend Pan in the back of the car

This is how we hope our pets travel. Unfortunately, that’s not always the case. A few weeks ago Micro (together with us) met super (dog) model Elle and her human, who had just come back from a trip to Paris. And, of course, we got chatting about how to travel with dogs – one has to exchange tips and tricks, right?

Weekend preparations

Finally Friday. What a couple of weeks the last two weeks have been! Two events for G, my first virtual talk (skyped in for questions), one parent (or rather guardian) teacher meeting, one guest dog for the weekend, a number of negotiations – and through all of it G’s flu and my random strange left ear pain. Yes, kind of ready for the weekend – and almost there!

Up to this weekend? I want to say we’re going to be doing nothing, but this is not going to work.

Thinking about swimming with your dog?

12/09/2017 by microandfriends No Comments

Surely, we don’t need a life jacket! All dogs can swim… right?! Famous last words spoken in a pet shop, and then we left with a swim vest after all.  I wasn’t really convinced we needed one, but here is why it turned out to be a very good purchase (and yes, we did buy the vest with our own money, this is not a sponsored post)

Well, yes dogs can swim. However, even those who swim can have a fit of panic and start to ‘panic paddle’ instead of swimming. Here some reasons that might lead you to consider a life vest for your four-legged friend:

Holidays with your dog – part 2: going abroad

So, you have decided that you will take your dog with you from the UK on your next holiday, because you can. And you want to explore the rest of Europe (as long as you can still freely travel and take your dog). Your first challenge – after you have figured out where you want to go, stay, visit and which locations/sights/cafes are dog friendly – is to leave the island, by whatever mode of transportation available: with or without car, by ferry, train or plane… whatever you choose, leaving the island without a car but with your four-legged friend will require a little more planning.

Meet the gang

Hello, we’re two expat friends (aka Tournesol and Tigerduck) and a dog (Micro-the-Dog, aka “the boss”). After living in London for 18 and 16 years respectively (or 5 years in the case of Micro), we’ve just made a leap of faith back across the channel and are building a new life in Munich. Thank you for reading our musings about the world, life, living with CFIDS/ME, music, crafts, dogs and other observations.
